From Trees to Tables: The Legacy Sawyer & Craft Story
I'm Jake, founder of Legacy Sawyer & Craft, where myself and a small team of craftsmen build hardwood tables meant to become the heart of your home and the center of family traditions. Located in the Ozarks of southeast Missouri, we craft furniture that tells a story—both ours and yours

Where It All Began
My passion for this started at a young age, collecting scraps from my parents' home addition to build backyard treehouses. Those early projects, joined by bent nails and determination, grew into 4-H builds guided by my father and grandfather. By my teens, I was making and selling custom cedar Adirondack chairs on Craigslist—my first taste of turning passion into purpose.
The journey deepened when I discovered saw-milling. Standing before a fresh-cut log, pulling that first slab off the mill to reveal grain patterns hidden for decades inside—something clicked. Each tree told its own story through swirls of heartwood, character knots, and growth rings marking seasons both harsh and plentiful.
I milled every log I could get my hands on and built my own solar kiln to dry the lumber. This completed the circle: from felling trees to milling boards to drying timber to crafting furniture. Every step brought me closer to creating pieces worthy of the materials they came from.

More Than Furniture
Today, Legacy Sawyer & Craft represents this same passion—turning raw, beautiful hardwood into tables where families will gather for decades. Our faith guides this work. Colossians 3:17 reminds us daily: "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
For Your Family
We build for families who understand that home should be a haven. For parents creating spaces where children pause from screens to share meals and stories. For hosts who believe gathering friends around good food creates community. For anyone who sees a table as more than furniture—but as the heart of a home.
In a world where things come cheap and break quickly, we stand for something different: furniture built thoughtfully, by hand, from the highest quality materials. Pieces designed to witness first days of school, holiday feasts, quiet morning coffees, and countless family dinners.
